*A GREATER PULL*
_It is advisable you read the text first_
TEXT:LUKE 11:29-36
ππ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation" (LUKE 11:30).*_
After considering the lives of two well-known personalities in the Old Testament, our Lord Jesus Christ began to address issues of immediate concern which had eternal consequences. He pegged His comments on Solomon and Jonah, who had remarkable testimonies to pull crowds.
As he recalled their deeds, the Lord said He, the Messiah, commanded greater signs not only in His generation but for all generations till the Judgment Day. When they called for signs, He referred them to Jonah's three-day stay in the belly of the fish and his preaching that led Nineveh to repentance. And a royal personality left a distant kingdom at the pull of Solomon's wisdom. Now, Christ among them was greater than these two; yet the Jews rejected Him. On the last day, those who benefited from Solomon and Jonah, two lesser men, would condemn them for rejecting the greater King and Prophet.
Like the Jews, many in the world today are also walking in darkness as a result of their refusal to receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. In verse 36, the Lord calls for the fullness of His doctrine in our lives. That is the way to escape the condemnation of the generations of the queen of the south and Nineveh.
God has rested the power for salvation of man in His Son, Jesus Christ. We do not need to wait for signs and wonders outside Him. Man needs no agent from below or above to convince us of the certainty of Christ's lordship. He is the centre point of all the prophets and emissaries that have come from God.

```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *1 SAMUEL 30-31*
*MEDITATION*
*Some deep eternal truths from Jesus that are often ignored*
*1. Any price too high to seek for Jesus?*
a. Jesus challenged His generation that no price is too high in order to seek for the knowledge and experience of Christ?
His argument is this:
a. The Queen of Sheba travelled for about 7 years in order to see Solomon, all in search of wisdom, v31.
b. She decided to abandon the comfort of the palace and made tortuous journey for 7 years in search of wisdom, v31.
c. She attached little value to the throne not fearing she could be dethroned before she came back, v31.
d. She ignored all forms of castigatuons as a foolish woman and queen while in search of wisdom, v31.
e. She separated, very likely, from her loved ones for so many years in search of more wisdom,
f. She was not even in a hurry to return back to Ethiopia from Jerusalem. She stayed for close to 6 month! She made sure she got what she was looking for.
g. She exalted communication with the wisdom of Solomon more important that all her wealth and possessions, v31.
g. The wisdom of Jesus is incomparably greater than that of Solomon, v31. Do anybody, including skeptics and atheists have any excuse for not knowing the saving eternal truths of Christ?
h. In the judgement day, the Queen will be given an opportunity to condemn the generation of the Jews who lived at the time of Christ before final divine judgement is pronounced, v31.
i. The implication is that in the judgement "day", which will really be a long day, God will call upon appropriate saints to counter all the excuses of man before divine irreversible pronouncements.
j. The wisdom in what Jesus is saying is that if a human being like you can pay so much price and demonstrate so much faith, then no man has an excuse, so that "all mouths will be stopped in the day of judgement".
*Question*
a. What other challenges we could get from this woman?
b. Are you ready to willingly pay the price of seeking for more of Christ until you find Him? Or is any price too high for eternal truths needed to enter eternity which will last for ever?
*2. Is indifference to the messages of Christ tolerable?*
a. Jesus pointed the people to Jonah.
b. Jonah preached an incoherent and illogical, so to say, message to 120, 000 Ninevites and all of them, including their king and the greats repented, v30, Jonah 3:10;4:11.
c. The Creator, Jesus, is incomparably greater than the created Jonah. Does anyone has an excuse for not turning from their sins and repent having heard the message of Jesus directly?
d. Jesus said the only sign that should be given to the skeptics is the sign of the greatest miracle that ever happened which is the ressurection of Jesus from the dead, vv29,30.
e. Since the ressurection of Jesus is verifiable with historical facts, biblical facts and the continouous supernatural miracles including transformation of lives, hell will definitely turn lose on those who refuse to respond to the call of Jesus and His messages or what do they expect from God again?π€·♂️
f. It is obvious in v32 that before divine pronouncements of judgements on nations (including individuals), righteous nations (and individuals) will be called upon to testify against the ungodly nations (and individuals)π
*Questions*
a. What is your attitude towards the words of Jesus and the word of God in general?
b. Do you take His words more serious than that of any created being?
*Prayer points*
